Position Title: Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) Associate

Reports To: Group Executive Director

Compensation: RM5,000 Basic + Attractive Commission Scheme

 

Overview:

We are seeking a driven and detail-oriented M&A Associate to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in identifying, evaluating, and executing merger and acquisition opportunities, with a strong focus on the fintech and financial sectors across Southeast Asia and international markets.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead Sourcing & Qualification : Identify and qualify potential acquisition or partnership targets, focusing on fintech firms and financial institutions across Southeast Asia and other key global regions.
  • Financial Analysis & Valuation : Conduct in-depth financial modeling, valuation analysis (DCF, comparable companies, precedent transactions), and market research to assess investment opportunities.
  • Due Diligence & Execution Support : Assist in the end-to-end M&A process, including due diligence, transaction structuring, regulatory compliance checks, and coordination with legal and financial advisors.
  • Deal Materials Preparation : Create compelling pitch decks, teasers, information memorandums, and other investor presentation materials tailored to target audiences.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration : Work closely with compliance, legal, finance, and operations teams to ensure smooth execution of deals and integration planning.

 

Candidate Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business Administration, Commerce, or Actuarial Science from a recognized institution.
  • 1–3 years of relevant experience in investment banking, corporate finance, financial consulting, or private equity.
  • Strong financial and analytical skills, with hands-on experience in financial modelling,valuation techniques (DCF, comparable), and market research.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • High attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and financial databases (e.g., Bloomberg, Capital IQ) is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with the fintech sector and regulatory environment in Southeast Asia is a plus.
  • A Master’s degree (e.g., MBA or Master of Finance) is advantageous but not mandatory.
